(122KB) ============================================================================== Introduction [DD.02.01] ============================================================================== Drill Dozer is probably the last enjoyable platform game for the GBA. The handheld is getting old with the Nintendo DS around (is it me, or did the GBA never really get much attention when it came to games? I mean, what great games did we really get? That's just me though). However, you're a person who realised the beauty of the game, or else you wouldn't be reading this, right? The game is about... drilling. That's right, about drilling. At first it reminded me of Gurumin (a Japanese game by Falcom, the guys that the games like Ys and Xanadu). It still does, because the concept of little girl with a big drill is hard to shake off. Either way, you just drill your way around the level, upgrade the thing and defeat some enemies here and there. Easy concept, great fun. You'll notice I include conversations in my walkthrough. You may wonder why, but my answer is clear and simply. It makes the guide more complete, and it's easier to find a part where you need more information. If you're stuck right after Grutch told you to dance around naked, you can just browse around and find the correct part much, much easier. ============================================================================== Walkthrough [DD.03.01] ============================================================================== Grutch: "Looks like we're here! The Red Diamond those evil Skullkers stole from us has to be in his hideout! They're probably waiting for you, so watch yourself in there! Gearmo and I will be supporting you from back here at the trailer. Call us with your Drill Dozer's comm system if you get into trouble!" Gearmo: "Heh. Don't swear it, Grutch. She can take care of herself!" Our main character then drills into the building and... falls into a trap. Grutch: "Are you OK, Boss? You must have sprung a Skullker trap and fallen into a pit! Is your Drill Dozer still in one piece? BOSS?! Can you hear me, Boss?! You're still inside your Drill Dozer, aren't you?! What?! You're not?! We've got to get you back to your Dozer! Hmmm. You can still hear me, right? That means it has to be close by. Hop back into it!" You hop back into the Drill Dozer, and Gearmo talks to you. Gearmo: "It takes a lot more than a nasty fall to take a Drill Dozer outta commission! Just listen to that engine purr. I built it myself! I tightened every screw and greased every gear. It won't let you down! But you're gonna have to find a way back to the surface. I can fix you back up at the trailer. Just do whatever it takes to get our of there!" Grutch: "You're tough, Boss! Show 'em what you've got! Your Drill Dozer is still working, so you should be able to get out of there. Why don't you snoop around a little?" And this is where the game starts. ============================================================================== Normal Levels [DD.03.AA] ============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Area 1-1 - Skullker Hideout [DD.03.A1] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Walk to the right, and the first reminder will start - "Press R or L to spin your drill! Press and hold R or L to rev up your drill and max out your power gauge!". Give it a spin ~ "You can even drill stuff above and below you! Now get out there and try it!". So now you know this, drill into the wall ahead. Grutch: "Whoa there, Boss! Are you feeling a little dizzy? You're probably still a little woozy from that fall. You'll be all right! Your Drill Dozer can shred through these old walls like wet paper! Go wild and drill right through this wall in front of you!" Listen to the old man that'll call you many times and make this guide bigger than it should be. Once you reached the next area, you'll get a call. Press B to accept them. Grutch: "Boss! You're inside the Skullker hideout! Keep on busting through their base, but watch out for traps!" Dig through the yellow blocks. Behind and between the blocks are various posters with things like: "Attention, Skullkers: Business minions must always put on a fake smile. Thug minions are required to frown and look intimidating at all times." "Press START to reach the save menu!" "If you need help, press SELECT and press the A Button to read the help file!" Once you reached the next area, you'll notice a door comes down. Of course, someone has to call you about it. Gearmo: "Hey, Jill! Let me tell you real quick about that self-repairing barrier up ahead. The Skullkers keep their hideout heavily guarded!" Grutch: "Self-repairing barriers? What are you babbling about?" Gearmo: "I'm saying this thing can repair itself even when it's being drilled! You're gonna have to upgrade your Drill Dozer's gears to drill through it. Luckily for you, there's a gearbox nearby. Look around for a bright red box!" Don't you love how Grutch doesn't even know anything about their targets building? Jump up, drill through the wall and get the second gear. Gearmo: "You just found another gear! Way to go! Hey! Are you paying attention?!" ~ "Shifting up to another gear adds a lot of power to your drill! When your drill is spinning, press R at just the right time to shift! Right... now! When you see Shift Up, press R again! Remember, press R when you see Shift Up to shift gears! You have to gold R after shifting up to keep your drill spinning at max power! Go on! Give it a try! Press R a second time when you see Shift Up." Grutch: "Learning to shift up is important. It's easily your most powerful weapon! Don't worry if you're not great at it now. You'll get better as you go along. If you forgot how to do anything, press SELECT... And then press the A Button to read the help file!" Well, let's go on. Destroy the door for a nice... call. Gearmo: "Nice work! You drilled right through that barrier! Your new gear will have you destroying stuff even faster than usual!" Grutch: "You should keep your drill spinning even while you're moving around. That was, you can protect yourself from incoming bullets!" Enter the door to head to the next area. When you proceed, multiple enemies will come in and attack you from both sides. Once you survived, continue and drill open the box. Jump up and continue by drilling away the big yellow blocks. Note how you need to jump and then drill. You'll hover in the air while doing this. When you head down, you'll get a short call, but this time it's something you might want to know. Gearmo: "See that metal block? It's made of some kind of super-strong alloy! Your Drill Dozer's standard drill won't even scratch it! Shifting up won't help either. So don't bother! You're gonna have to find another way around." A complete mystery! Let's just head up instead and drill the wall away. Watch out for the electricity, and be sure to drill the box above you (you can drill up, after all). Enter the door after that. This area is pretty clear, just drill until you reached a weird device... and a call. Grutch: "There are all kinds of crazy lifts in this factory." Gearmo: "See that one above you? It's called a Socket Lift. Drill into the socket! You'll latch onto it as long as you spin your drill." Drill the yellow block away, and just keep going. The lift will pass by and grab you. Stop drilling when you're hovering above the platform. Find the door and continue. The next room has two doors, and a self-repairing barrier that will need an even better gear to get through. The exit above isn't of any use, because you'll end up there later. Just head up, and jump over the electricity to the left to find a box. Then find the self-repairing door. Try to drill in it, and walk back. Grutch: "This looks like the exit, but they've blocked it off. You'll need a third hear to drill through that barrier like butter!" So, head down and enter that door. Drill into the wall and take the lift up. For a small reward, jump onto the platforms and dig into the hole in the upper left corner. Nothing like a reward for your hard work. Right, just continue then. You'll find the third gear, which is the best gear, and extremely nice to play with, since it doesn't run out. Gearmo: "WHOA! You just found a third gear! You've gotta try that thing out! Hold down R when you hit the highest gear to keep the drill spinning. At third gear, you'll be boring through blocks like butter! Bust down everything in sight and show them you mean business!" So let's have fun. Just drill, drill, drill to the left and enter the next room. After you destroyed the barrier, someone has to bother you again. Grutch: "Keep your drill spinning to deflect incoming fire! Just don't drill into missiles or bombs, or you'll be sorry!" He's right. Don't drill into missiles or bombs, or they'll just explode. However, the upcoming enemies are only shooting bullets, so take them out and find the exit (you'll end up in the room with the barrier you couldn't destroy until now). Make sure you open all the red boxes, and not the steel block you can't pass (it's a different one than the other steel box). Now destroy the barrier and you'll be able to enter the lift, which leads back up. Head left to find a box, and where you started. The whole is gone, but you can't go up that way. Instead, head to the right to find a tank. Gearmo: "Look out! There's a tank up ahead! Try drilling into the hole on its nose!" The difficulty is to drill on the right height. First avoid the two missiles (don't drill them, as Grutch mentioned) and he hatch will stay open for a short moment. Then jump and land a drill right there. Two times at third gear will do it. Grab the box and continue. Grutch: "Don't forget that you can drill the other direction, Boss! Press the opposite button to rotate your drill the other way!" Gearmo: "The opposite of R is L, and the opposite of L is R! I don't have to draw you a picture, do I?" Stating the obvious... then again, the game is created by people who did Pokemon. It makes sense somehow. Drill the door open (doesn't have to be all the way) and enter the other side. Then get the barrier down by closing it again (yes, this includes drilling the wall away first). Let's leave this area! Gearmo: "You made it back! Right on! I'll come pick you up!" The drill-mobile (or something) will come by and you'll jump into it, ninja style. Your Drill-machine didn't make it through, though. Gearmo: "Whoa! Your Drill Dozer really took a beating! Your Drill Dozer's gears won't last forever, you know. They get worn away over time from hard use. Don't sweat it, though. I'll patch 'er up as best as I can." *Time passes* Gearmo: "You're all fixed up! The only thing is, you're back down to just one gear. Other than that, your Drill Dozer should be just like new, cutie!" Grutch: "Gearmo! You can't disrespect your boss like that! You know those Skullker thugs roughed up her dad, Doug! So Jill is taking over as the boss of the Red Dozers while he is recovering. She's the boss, now! You can't call her cutie!" Gearmo: "All right, all right. It's just a nickname! Sheesh. So you managed to escape from that trap, but this time... We're taking back the Red Diamond they stole from us!" From this moment on, you can select what you want to play on the map. You can head into the tutorial area if you want. ============================================================================== Area 1-2 - Skullker Factory [DD.03.A2] ============================================================================== Grutch: "Boss! Don't forget that you're back to using just one gear now! You're gonna have to find more gears to upgrade your Drill Dozer!" Head inside, and fight the enemies. Once you notice two small yellow blocks, dig up there to find a hidden space with some chips. Continue to the right. You'll find another space just a bit further with some more yellow blocks (3 in a row). Enter the door ahead. Grutch: "Do you see that weird yellow jelly block above your head? Drill into it, and then reverse your drill to fly backwards. Try using this technique to get to places you normally can't reach. Want me to go over that again, Boss? Reverse the drill direction while it's drilling into a block to jump back." Gearmo: "The higher the hear you're in, the higher you'll jump! Try shifting up to the highest gear, then slam it in reverse!" Do what they say, Drill into it with one direction (L or R), and then press the opposite direction (if you pressed L, press R, if you pressed R, press L). You'll reach the platform ahead and be the hero of the day. Head up and right to find the second gear. Isn't that great? Now head back a little bit, and find the yellow jelly block you use to reach a steel platform (it's the second jelly block). Get above it, on the platform, and drop yourself down. When you are on the right height, dig into it and reach the second gear. Reverse and you'll reach a platform with a treasure; Round Stone. Grutch: "You found some treasure! Nothing makes thieves like us happier than finding some loot, eh? Go see your treasure collection in the treasure room!" Ah, yea, great, we found a stone. Not just a stone, but a round stone! That's some treasure. The chest is worth more, but whatever. Head up by using the jelly blocks. One block will have a normal block close - be sure to destroy the normal one first and continue to the next room. A fun boss fight. Nothing hard though. Three kind of enemies will be dropped into the room (two that jump, one that shoots). It goes without saying that the one that shoots should be destroyed first. After you destroyed all the enemies, the robot will lower something. Stand under it, jump, and drill into it. Enter the next room when you're done. Some jumping, some drilling... You'll notice that the door on the other side, on the left, is closed. Let's head up instead (note how the electricity has an open space underneath it, why put the electricity there in the first place?). There is only one door you can reach once you went up, so enter it. Computers... and computers have... chips! Don't forget the screens above. Grutch: "You're getting pretty good with that Drill Dozer of yours! But we're not dealing with common thieves here. Don't let your guard down! Try pressing B to stand up in your cockpit and glance around. That way, you can scout out the whole area around you!" Dig through the crack in the floor, and pull over the switch. You'll activate the lift, which is a good thing. Destroy more computers and enter the door. You'll be in the previous room again, and end up at the door that was closed (and it'll still be closed). Don't bother with the enemies, just head up and take the lift to the other side. Assuming you want a nice red box, head down, destroy the enemies and find the yellow jelly block. Use it to reach it, and then head down and go right (if possible, ignore the enemies. Fall down while drilling can help here). In this room, you'll have to jump a bit, but you'll also notice an enemy that can shoot. The key to this is to jump two times in a row, and dig straight into it. The robots ahead can't hit you because of the red box. Then just head to the right (it's a bit tricky, I agree). Outside is a new kind of enemy - they'll fly and drop down when you walk under them. Just walk under them, so they drop down and then drill them into tiny little pieces. After that, head to the right until you find a lift. Destroy the block and use it to find a box. However, you'll notice you can't go any further. Head to the right, destroy the wave of enemies and continue. This time, you'll battle two tanks at the same time. It's not really hard though, as long as you don't mess things up (in that case, things will get out of sync). The left tank will shoot one missile, and open its hatch. The right tank will follow, and open its hatch too. Avoid the one from the left, the one from the right, and then attack the tank on the right. Switch to second gear, but don't complete it, since the left tank will shoot another missile while you're busy. Once the right tank is destroyed, the left tanker will go berserk and shoot three missiles, and open its hatch for a very short time. Stay close, avoid the missiles and destroy it too. One more drill will do it. Another tactic is too drill into one tank when the hatch is open, and when the missile of the other gets close, reverse and drill into that one. That way, it's even easier (thanks Aaron Wong). Head up until you reach a socket lift, that swings around. Get to the other side and get the third gear and continue. Head up here, and enter the building on the left again. Now these jumping robots are annoying. They set themselves on a high voltage, and if you hit them, you'll be electrified. Just time it right and continue. Take the lift up for a nice call (well it's been a while, hasn't it?). Grutch: "To squeeze through gaps in walls that you can't drill through... Just crouch and press A to dash and shoot the hap!" The man said it... That's almost Metroid, isn't it? Keep going. If you care for those chips, drill the wall that's "hurt". Stand next to the wall, and dash. You'll end up exactly on the small brick. Dash again and jump onto the next platform. Go as far to the right as you can, and dash again. There you go. NOW GET TO THE RIGHT! Head up again, and to the left, and head all the way left for some big chips. Watch out for the enemies, obviously. Head up, and don't stop it. You'll find a jelly block. Use it in third gear to reach the box with chips on the right. Basically, you get into third gear, reverse, and drill into thin air in order to reach the red box. After that, continue to the right. Noted the nice fancy wooden door? Good. Noticed how the music changed? Not so good. Jill goes straight after the treasure. Croog: "What, have you never heard of knocking?! It drives me INSANE when people do that!" Gearmo: "That's Croog... He's the evil megaboss of the Skullkers!" Grutch: "That's the Red Diamond they stole from us! Don't they know your mom left you that when she died? I can't believe they would stoop that low! Only the most repulsive villain would do something like that." Croog: "A villain?! Hah! That's pretty rich coming from a gang of thieves! Tough luck! I stole it fair and square! But if you really want it that badly... Nah. I think I'll keep it. Ta-ta!" Gearmo: "Dang! He's getting away!" Grutch: "Go get him!" Two points of complaint here; 1. So everyone can hear your conversations? That's not really something I find satisfying. 2. Who builds a metal shaft into his roof? So... go after him! Wait! You are angry. Drill away his furniture. That'll teach him. Then enter the skull-door. A lift... a heal-box... silence... perhaps something is waiting for you... perhaps... perhaps.. Perhaps if you destroy the barrier, head outside and face big tank-like thing. That might be a problem. Croog: "Hey, shorty! I'm over here! Muwahahaha! If you want your precious Red Diamond back, you'll have to beat me! I don't have much to worry about, 'cause that will NEVER happen. Muhahahaha!" Gearmo: "Watch out for the Scorpion Dozer's wicked tail! You know, that thing with the big drill on the end? When he uses that drill, give him a taste of his own awful medicine!" Now this is pretty easy, actually. Shift to third gear, and attack the drill. It'll hurt the guy a bit. Head back, and do the same. When the throws in bombs, stop drilling and avoid them (get close and let hem explode, or jump over them). Right after the bombs, he'll use his drill again. Just keep drilling his drill, and it's game over for Mr. Pokemon. Did I say Pokemon? I meant Croog. Croog: "You got spunk, kid! I have to admire that. But all the spunk in the world isn't gonna save you now! Muwahaha!" *Dr. Robotnik/Eggman shows him emerald. I mean Croog* Croog: "Oh, hey. You know that Red Diamond I swiped from you? I've figured out how to harness its awesome destructive power! Muwaaaahahahaha!" Just do some fun stuff. Just dance around your room, visit the bathroom, jump in the game... You'll get a call anyway. Gearmo: "Whoa! I saw something shiny in that scorpio's mouth! Aha! I've got it! When it opens its mouth, give it a drill!" Isn't this just Sonic re-arranged? Someone got an emerald, amazing power, he fails... Either way, do what Gearmo says. The guy comes close, and you just drill into it. After that, 3x3 bombs are released, so just jump over them. Then drill him again, and it's game over. Croog: "That was pretty impressive for a pink-haired, ponytailed Red Dozer! You beat me, so I guess I have to give you back this Red Diamond. Yeah, right! HAH! Like I'm going to go to the trouble to steal it only to give it away! Muwahahaha!" *Entering the Drill-mobile* Grutch: "Oh, no... After all that, Croog ran off with our Red Diamond! And we're not gonna stop hunting him until we steal it back!" Gearmo: "Word on the street is they headed for the Art Gallery! Oh, some guy stopped by to visit. I'd never seen him before. Who was that?" Grutch: "Oh! You don't now him? That's an old buddy of mine that runs this stop. You should grab as many chips as you can while you're roaming around. Then, you can spend them at his shop to buy all kinds of great stuff. You can buy energy tanks from him and use them to upgrade your Drill Dozer!" So now you can buy more stuff! Goooooo you! ============================================================================== Area 2-1 - Art Museum [DD.03.A3] ============================================================================== Right when you start, you'll get ambushed - so drill way. Clear the area (not the glass, mind you, it'd ruin my joke). Once you did it all, head for the glass. All thieves enter through there (you too). Voila. Grutch: "Boss! Can you hear me? It looks like you've made it inside! Our stolen Red Diamond was taken to the museum! Let's get it back!" To the right are doors you can't destroy yet (you're back to first gear, after all). So head left, and drill you way up and then to the left to get a call. Grutch: "That red tube up ahead is part of the museum's air-conditioning system." Gearmo: "Air ducts make for perfect sneaky entry points for thieves like us! Just drill into the duct's grooves to spin through them. Keep in mind that you gotta drill the other direction in blue ducts." Drill your way to the left, and then head down and to the right again. You'll bump into a laser-shooting device, so make sure not to get hit. You'll find a nice red box before you'll continue down and left again. You'll see a new gear, but no way to reach it. Head down instead, and drill the yellow block away. This'll reveal a tube, you can use to reach the gear. Leave the room and continue to find a self-repairing door. Destroy it, and then destroy the blocks to find a tube. Go up (note it goes much faster with second gear) and continue to the right until you find yourself stuck. There is a painting on the wall so you can remove. Do so, and put it on the other spot. This'll open the door, so you can continue again and head to the room on the other side of the museum (with two self-repairing doors). The lower door is still too strong for us to handle, but the one on top isn't Drill it away and continue to the right. You'll end up outside. Note the blocks that appear and re-appear. Nothing too fancy, but still. You can head up if you're in need of a healing box. Otherwise just head inside again. Gearmo: "See that weird-looking lift in front of you? That's called a lateral lift. To latch onto it, just drill it from either side. Press Left or Right on the Control Pad to switch sides as you hang on!" Grutch: "Keep drilling and swap sides to avoid hitting your head!" On the right are metal blocks, so nothing we can do there. However, we can still head up. Do so, and when you're able to head left, don't hesitate to do so, since you'll find a box with some chips. Yummy. Head back and go up again. You'll bump into the third gear. Hooray! Once you stop laughed because you're so good as this game, continue your path to head outside again. This is the area where you started, so enter the museum again, and drill away the door that we couldn't drill away before. From there, keep heading right. Some enemies will ambush you after a short while. Try to stay between the lasers and take care of them. In the next room you'll find an enemy with a shield. Attack them from above, and then solve the paining-puzzle to open the path to the right. Yes, head then and grab the box while you're at it. Destroy the statues and drill your way through the tube. A robotic dog will appear, and he'll a little annoying thing. He'll jump over you, and then charge again. The key is to let it jump over you, while you already turn around and drill. Behind the blocks is another tube you'll take. There is a big robot there, but it doesn't do anything. Why don't you drill into its "nose"? Be sure to turn the right way, or you'll only drill it back into the robot. Grutch: "Hoooey! Way to go, Boss!" Gearmo: "Wow, the police sure make their robots on the cheap! That one was held together by just one screw! Remove it, and the whole thing falls to pieces!" So, let's continue, shall we? In the next room is a painting puzzle. Once you put it back to the right place, the blocks above you will vanish, and two police enemies will drop down. Needless to say, you should go after the one without the shield first. When the blocks vanished, a tube was revealed too. How great is that? In the following room, there will be those funky vanish-blocks and a yellow jelly block. Drill into the jelly block with third gear, and time your jump so you can land on the blocks left of you. Enter the room left. You'll find a lift here, so mount it and head into third gear. Once you are left of the platform with the yellow blocks, reverse your drill to get there. A few tries should do it. If you are interested in some health, mount the next lift at the lowest point, and reverse when it heads up. The first gear will do. After that, continue. This is a nice part. You'll first have to battle two police enemies. But the next layer will go up, while you're still battling. The key is to be as fast as possible. The order of enemies is 2 police enemies, 2 police enemies, 2 police enemies with a shield, 2 police enemies with a shield, dog and a big police robot. Gearmo: "That guard robot is just like the one you destroyed earlier! However, this one won't hesitate to attack! Even your drill can't protect you from its powerful punches! When its fists turn red, get ready do dodge!" Time for a fight. Start to drill into its fist, until the right one becomes red. Stop drilling and prepare to jump. Because of his attack, the screw will come out. Drill it out, and after a short while it'll get hidden again. Keep going until the screw is out and go down and find the safe. Gearmo: "That safe door up ahead is way too tough for you to drill through! Your Drill Dozer's gears are also probably pretty worn away by now, anyway. Come on back to the trailer and I'll fix you up!" *You get picked up* Grutch: "Our Red Diamond must be locked away in the giant vault in that room." Gearmo: "What's a problem, 'cause the lock on the museum vault has THREE dials! The release lever is supposedly somewhere nearby, but... I guess we'll just have to head back in there and find out!" ============================================================================== Area 2-2 - Museum Vault [DD.03.A4] ============================================================================== I drilled that camera away just a minute ago! Ah well, head into the door. The left side is pretty much secured, so let's head right. Just keep going (or rolling, but "keep rolling rolling rolling" will get me sued by Limp Bizkit). After a short while, you'll notice a pink Pac-man will show up when you got near the end of a tube. Keep drilling to avoid it. From there, just continue. Once you bump into a self-repairing door, mount the "lift", reverse, turn around and mount the next one. Turn around and you'll find the second gear. Now drill the door away and continue. Pac-man will be on the run again in this tube, and also remember to drill into the right direction. You'll end up in a room with steam. Just make sure you don't touch them, and head up. All the way up, dash underneath the steam and drill your way up and continue until you get a call. Gearmo: "The room that you just sneaked into must be a guard station. It's the control room for opening the giant vault! If your turn the wheel, you can turn the dials on the vault! But you must turn each of the three dials from the different rooms!" Grutch: "This is the Art Gallery! Talk about heavy-duty security!" Gearmo: "But the device itself is rather simple. The problem here is figuring out which way or how many times to turn the dial to unlock it..." Grutch: "Unless we know that info, what's the point in being here? Boss! Do you see anything in that room that might be a clue!?" Read the paper on the wall - "Attention, newly hired security guards: To open the vault, turn the red dial 2 times to the right and 4 times to the left. This is top secret info, so don't go blabbing about it to your buddies!" Well, how about we do this? ;) Grutch: "Excellent! The first lock has been released! Go check the next control room!" Continue, and after an ambush, you'll end up outside. Carrie: "Ahahahaha!" *Jill looks up* Carrie: "Ahh, the thief has finally shown up! I bet you want that diamond, huh? How about I give you a taste of my EMP bombs instead!" *Bombs come down* Grutch: "Stay clear of those EMP bombs, or you'll trash your Drill Dozer in a hurry!" Gearmo: "EMP bombs? No problem! Just use the fountain on 'em. You're smart, cutie. I'm sure you'll figure it out!" This is pretty annoying. Drill left to make the water go left, drill right to make the water go right. Destroy the bombs that way. Guard: "Detective Carrie! We've used up all of our EMP bombs!" Carrie: "Dang. Oh well! There's always the vault... Oops! I mean... Never mind. We'll let that cute little Red Dozer go... for now." *View goes back to Jill* Grutch: "Hey, that was Detective Carrie! She's the most ruthless detective in the force! If she's here, she's got to be protecting something important... That's it! Our Red Diamond has get to be in that vault!" Gearmo: "That fountain has some serious pressure! It should even be able to lift your heavy Drill Dozer!" Make the fountain go right, and head into the building again. Find the next control room, and be sure to read the paper - "There's a poster here on the wall: The famous five diamond will be on display at the Art Museum! Come and behold their mysterious power with your own eyes! There's a memo stuck to the bottom of the flyer: Turn the dial 5 times to the left and 3 times to the right." Well... do so. Grutch: "You did it! Now there's only one more dial to go!" Head up, and you'll end up at the upper part of the previous room. Before you head to the left, make sure to find the piece of ceiling that looks different to find a hidden tube, leading to a box with chips. After that, head outside. Now make the fountain go left, and drill away the self-repairing door. Watch out for the row of lasers (dash). Solve the easy painting puzzle, and head outside. Mount to lift and dig away the block to find a tube. Go at third gear, so you mount the lift. Then turn around an reserve. Continue to go up. At the lift that's near a few yellow blocks, mount on the right side, and go into third gear. When it's at its highest point, reserve and drill into the wall to the right. You'll be able to find "Samurai Armor" here (treasure). After that take the other way. Inside again, be sure to drill away all the blocks to clear the path (you need to dash at one point). Keep going down and also open the red box on your way there. You'll end up in a room with lots of books. Before solving the painting puzzle, read them: "There are rows of books on the bookcase: "Modern Masters", "Art and Society", "Fine Art Appraisal", "Japanese Prints"" "There's a diary on the bookcase! The page is bookmarked at an entry: The diamond is... incredible. I can't believe I finally got a chance to view it in person. I intended to display it in the museum, but once I held it in my hand... I wanted it for myself! Just to be safe, I'll keep the diamond in the vault for now. ... ... ... There's a memo stuck to the page! Turn the dial 6 times to the left, 1 time to the right, and 12 times to the left." Now solve the picture puzzle and keep going. You'll find another bookcase - "There are rows of books on the bookcase... "Pieces of Picasso", "Corner Dali", "Chagall Carpet", "Cezanne Salad Days", "Gauguin My Way?", "Renoir's Memoir"" Ok... just fix the last dial then. Grutch: "You did it, Boss! You cracked the lock on the vault! Go and see what's inside!" Head down and to the left. Destroy the dog and keep going. Just keep going through the tubes and collect the red boxes. Nothing hard here, really. It mainly involves avoiding Pac-man. You'll end up at a small crab-boss. Drill until you're halfway, and stay there. Watch what eye blinks. If his left eye blinks, drill forward. If his right eye blinks, drill backwards. After each attack he failed, he'll take a look. That's the moment to drill him. When its destroyed head back to the vault, open it and then enter it. Grutch: "You're in the vault! Hooooey, just look at all that gold! That Red Diamond of yours has got to be around there somewhere." Carrie: "Heh heh heh... Are you looking for this?" *The diamond shows up, and Carrie appears from underneath the gold* Carrie: "I knew you'd come looking for the diamond. I've been waiting for you! There's no way I'm handing it over!" Gearmo: "Detective Carrie is acting really odd..." Carrie: "The diamond in the safe... The Yellow Diamond... I won't hand it over... Won't... give... it... It's mine! ALL MINE!" *The diamond vanishes* (this reminds me of Lord of the Rings) Gearmo: "Be careful! She's possessed by the power of the diamond! She can't hear you now. You've got to destroy her robot! Police robots have a weakness around their belly. Look for it!" Rather easy, if you ask me. Stay back, and wait until Carrie throws away the handcuffs towards you. Jump over them and drill into the red part of the belly. You'll need to do this about five times. If you get captures, drill away the handcuff that's purple. Once the lower part is destroyed, she'll start to fly. This is even easier. Just drill upwards and you'll hit her in a sensitive spot. After a while, some enemies will show up. Just keep them off you and you're fine. Carrie: "Huh?! I can here to arrest some thieves... What happened?" *Jill grabs the diamond* Carrie: "I see... So you came to get your Red Diamond back? Well, this isn't the diamond you're looking for, thief!" *Jill gets picked up* Grutch: "Kill the engine, Boss. You're back in the trailer, safe and sound. Detective Carrie is usually pretty cool and collected. What got into her? Why did she go so crazy for that diamond?" Gearmo: "Come to think of it... Wasn't the diamond we're looking for red? That one was yellow. And this museum brochure says something happened to the give diamonds." Grutch: "So, what you're saying is... ...there may be even more diamonds out there?" Gearmo: "I think so! I've heard of a Blue Diamond hidden somewhere in the Kuru Ruins. Think it's one of the five diamonds we're looking for?" See? It's just like Sonic! ============================================================================== Area 3-1 - Kuru Ruins [DD.03.A5] ============================================================================== Walk a bit to the right. Grutch: "Creepy trees, crumbling ruins, spooky jungle noises... I hope some jungle monster doesn't jump out and grab you! You've got a lot of guts to come out there looking for a diamond, Boss! I'm getting freaked out just thinking about it..." Gearmo: "What's up, Grutch? Are you spooked or something? She's the one that's heading into the ruins... not you!" Grutch: "You're right, you're right. I shouldn't cause a fuss, but I'm easily spooked. I just hope the Boss doesn't run into any traps ahead... or monsters!" On the next screen, you'll be attacked by skeletons. Also beware of the traps that shoot arrows. Enter the ruins. Note the skeleton here looks different. Once you put it into bones again, it'll let go a purple gas. Don't touch it, since it hurts. If you go right, a plant will block the way through. Grutch: "Walking skeletons, plants growing into living walls... I'm getting freaked out, and I'm all the way back at the trailer!" Gearmo: "You're crazy... you know that? The boss can take care of herself!" We sure can. To get through this plant, we need the second gear, which happens to be in the same room (whoever puts them there sure knows when we need them). Note that the blocks can only be drilled into from one side. Find the gear in the upper left corner and continue. Take the lift to the other side (falling done will hurt) and head up. Don't run away from the big rocks. When the rock is on a horizontal part, drill into it to break it. Head all the way to the right, down and continue. Eventually you'll bump into a ghost. Drill into it for a short time two times to get rid of it. Then avoid the four blue fire-balls and continue. You'll bump into the third gear as you go and enter the next room. Gearmo: "Yup, it looks like the hole up ahead could be a pain to get across. You can't go falling down bottomless pits on us!" Grutch: "Don't worry, Boss! I've got an idea about how to get you across that pit. Drill into the first block and hold down the direction you're drilling. When you bust through a block, you'll keep on truckin' to the next one." Gearmo: "That'll do it! Just don't stop drilling until you get to the other side! Don't hesitate to check the help file if you have any questions at all." Do what they told you - drill and hold right until you got into the next room. In here, the small passage with blocks only seems to be there to give you some chips. When you got all the way up, and you're interested in getting healed, destroy the blocks that you need to destroy from the bottom first, and then start destroying the others from the right side to reach the red box. After that, continue. Spikes on the ceiling, a barrier below... you got it, it's time to speed things up. Start at the third block and work your way down as fast as you can. You have plenty of time though, so don't worry. The ceiling will fall down and you can continue. In this room, the floor with spikes will come up. Once again, avoid getting hit and this time head up. If you're hardcore you can open the red box with chips too. Drill into the blocks from the left, and get to the other side (box with chips). Head down, and avoid the arrows while trying to enter the next room. Note you can defend yourself from the arrows with your drill. Two ghosts here - fun. Try to get rid of them both at the same time, and also avoid their remains. Another ghost is waiting for you. Take care of it and enter the door. Destroy the rocks while you also destroy the blocks to free the lift. Take the lift and be sure to get yourself healed up before going further. After that it's jelly time. Drill into the one to the right, reverse, and drill into the one on the left. Reverse again and enter the door. Time for another boss. Grutch: "BOSS! Did you see that weird glowing sphere fly into that statue's head?" Gearmo: "I know something was strange about these ruins... The walking skeletons where a dead giveaway! I'll bet that sphere has something to do with it!" Grutch: "Figure out a way to get up high and hit that sphere from above!" Gearmo: "Grutch, you might just be onto something for once..." Easy as pie, once again. Wait until the boss drops his spiky-ball, and then drill into it. Once you are above the sphere, let go of the ball and drill into the sphere. Once you did it once, the boss will use a new attack, where it'll move the ball from one side to the other. Jump over it, and try to hit the sphere a second time. When you only need to hit the sphere on more time, the ball will swoop from one side to the other, but re-do it. Also, the ball will drop more often, but it won't always allow you to get up high. When you're able to do that, be sure to be quick, because the spikes get back faster this time. The drill-mobile will pick you up. Grutch: "What on earth was that crazy shiny sphere?!" Gearmo: "It looked like some kind of weird energy. So is that what was causing all those strange things to happen out in the ruins? Normally, I'd never believe any kind of hogwash like that, but... I did see it with my own eyes! Or, at least through the Drill Dozer's camera." ============================================================================== Area 3-2 - Sunken Ruins [DD.03.A6] ============================================================================== Head inside and you'll get ambushed by normal skeletons. Nothing hard, so continue after that. Head all the way left and find the water. Grutch: "Whoa there, Boss! Watch out for that water up ahead!" Gearmo: "Normally, your Drill Dozer can't go in the water. But if I install some special equipment, you should be able to go underwater. Why don't you wait until you're equipped with the right stuff, eh?" Just head right then, and enter the door. ???: Diamond... diamond... Where is the diamond... The diamond.. It calls to me..." ??? 2: The diamond is the fountain of youth. Ahhh... to experience youth again... Teeheeheeheee..." ???: "Hey, now! It's that annoying little girl from the Red Dozers!" ??? 2: "Yes... yes! The treasure is ours!" Did they steal from Zelda now (remember? the two witches)? Ah well, head down (not into the water) and avoid the bullets. After that turn the screw (with R) to make their machine fall apart. Grab the propeller and you'll get called. Grutch: "Hey, it's a pair of crazy thief ladies! They must have found the treasure in the ruins!" Gearmo: "That's how the stealing business goes. We'll just steal it back! But it looks like they left us a nice little gift. Try using your propeller to move through the water! Just spin the drill to glide through the water like a submarine!" Grutch: "Are you sure this'll work, Gearmo? Be careful out there, Boss! If you get into trouble, take a look at the help file!" Jump down into the water. L will make you go backwards, while R makes you go ahead. Head up, and then left (right will get you back to where you already went) to find the second gear. Continue by going down. You'll find a red box, but there are mines near. Decide if you want to grab it, or not. Continue to the left either way and get out of the water. Dash your way through this part. If you care for chips, dash your way up and open the two red boxes. After that, head down into the water again. You'll find electric sea stars. Wait until they are tired, and stay back as long as they play Kirby. Easy enough. Continue. When you have to drill away boxes below you, be sure to end with the one in the middle to avoid the mines. Get left and up again and enter the room with the bubbles. Head down and to the left, and find a way up. Outside the water again, get rid of the ghosts and then find the treasure "Stardust". Also make sure you find the hidden chips in the lower left corner of the room. Head back into the water, and head all the way down, then to the right. Enter the stream, and break away from it when you can. Then find a way down into a new room (with bubbles). Make your way through the room to find the third gear and continue. Break away from the stream to open the red boxes and to continue. Battle the sea start and enter the next room. Battle your way up and you can leave the water for now. The goal is to reach the other side of the room and jump in the water again. Have fun and don't forget to open the boxes. Head down and to the right. Drill away the blocks and find your way through. Protect yourself from the spikes with your drill, and find the exit. There is a red box that can heal you too. Prepare for a boss. Grutch: "That weird ball of light is back!" Gearmo: "It has taken control of a giant fish! I don't have to tell you which part is the weak spot, do I? Just stay under control and stay alive!" This is yet another easy fight. Stay on the left, and on the ground. The fish can shoot two kind of things at you; a lightning ball or a rock. Avoid the lightning balls by going up. Drill into the rocks to hit the fish with it. After a few shots back, the fish will come forward and transform. Head all the way up, and wait until you see a bunch of fishes on the right. Head down to avoid them. The sphere will show up somewhere random, so drill into it. The fishes will rush back to the right, so head into third gear and don't get hit by them. Now the whole sequence starts again. When you got its health down to 1/3th, it'll shoot more lightning balls and the fishes will rush to the left two times. Grutch: "You sure took care of those freakish fish! Whazzit?! What's that sparkling blue thing?!" *Blue diamond shows up and Jill grabs it. Then the drill-mobile picks her up.* Grutch: "Way to go, Boss! You found another diamond! However... We're looking for a red diamond, not a blue or yellow one! The Skullkers must have stashed it somewhere..." Gearmo: "These diamonds must hold a crazy amount of power! It made a giant stone statue come alive... And even controlled a swarm of fish!" Be sure to buy the new bit, that'll allow you to drill through those purple blocks. ============================================================================== Area 4-1 - Metal City [DD.03.A7] ============================================================================== Commissioner: "But, Professor... Do you really think the Red Dozers are stupid enough to come here?" Professor: "Hee hee hee... They're desperate to get their precious Red Diamond back. Once they find out that it's at the stadium, they'll show up for sure! We'll lure out that brat of a girl... And let the police take care of the rest! Mwa heeee heee!" Carrie: "... Sure, the Red Dozers are thieves, but the Skullkers are, too. So why are the police helping out the Skullkers?" Why do they call you straight after they dropped you? They could tell you things when you're there, right? Grutch: "Boss! I just heard on the police scanner that they've cornered a Skullker that's carrying the diamond! He's hiding out somewhere in this town! There's no way we can let the police parch our Red Diamond! We've got to get there fast!" Gearmo: "Hmm... I always thought the Skullkers bribed the police to hassle us. But it looks like the police are after the Skullkers now, too. I didn't think they had enough manpower to take on both of us!" Destroy the time blocks to get through. Once you reached the second one, drill it away and then wait until it comes back. This allows you to reach another set of time blocks. Leave the lowest one alone, but drill the one above that. Stand there, and drill up. Jump, and the block will re-appear. This tactic is used to get higher using time blocks. Open the red box for chips and continue to the right. Hey, a sign! - "To the wall cleaner: To reach the upper areas on the building, use the drill spinner on the wall. Spin your drill into the spinner and your Drill Dozer will spin along with it. Reverse the direction of your drill to catapult yourself into the air!". Apparently the cleaners in Metal City carry a drill. Apparently they clean the walls. Anyway, use this fun little thing to work your way up. After a while you'll need to go up this way, and then press left in order to reach the next one. You'll end up at some time blocks. Since you are able to drill the purple blocks now, drill away the upper time block and head left. Here, get up, and drill the time block above you away. Now you need to quickly reach the next drill spinner in order to proceed. There is a steel block here, so that's not the way we should go. Head the other way. You'll bump into a dog. The right spinner will move you up to a red box with chips. The left one will get you to the third gear. You can't grab the treasure yet. Get back down, and use the left spinner in second gear to reach the platform on the right. Enter the next area. Drill away the time block and stand on the lift. Then make sure the time block is back, and use it to continue. Use the spinner in second gear, and head left for a red box with chips. After that head to the right. At the billboard, an laser-shooting robot will appear. Drill into it and it'll fall over. This is your moment to strike at its "brains". Continue to the right once you took care of it. Move the screws out of the way, and enter the building. Keep going until you find a robot again. At the same time, you'll get ambushed by normal police units. This can be nasty, so keep your head cool and continue once it's done. You probably want to get healed, so move the screw out of the way and open the red box for some healing. Jump down. Here it's just some basic screw-remove action, so continue. When you find an area where you need to remove two screws, it may become a bit harder, but still possible. Keep going until you find a spinner on the left wall. Remove the screw and head up to find a red box with chips. Then head down and dash into an area with a robot that is targeting you. You just need to make sure he sees you, and then head down. Try to drill into the yellow area of the robot to destroy him, and then continue. Go through the tube, and you'll end up on a... train. Head to the right, and you'll get ambushed by the police. Don't just watch them, but make sure nothing hits you. Once they are gone, head to part 11 of the train. Here you need to avoid and drill objects while moving ahead to part 9. There, more objects will come your way. After a short while you'll find a red box that heals you and some electricity. Avoid the electricity and continue. You need to jump, but avoid the objects. You'll find a shielded police unit, but watch out because of the objects. Head to part 5 of the train. A targeting unit is there, and you can't avoid it. As if that's not enough, you'll get ambushed by the police. Focus on not getting it, because the targeting unit will crash into an object when you reach part 4 of the train. Keep going right, and the train will stop. Jump off the train to heal yourself, and then head up through the tube. Grutch: "Boss! The area ahead is under major construction. Once you navigate your way through that area, you'll end up at the stadium!" Gearmo: "Someone with a Red Diamond just showed up at the stadium! You've got to get there before the police do!" Continue to the right, then. Get rid of the enemies, and enter the steel platform with the spinner on the left. Reverse on first gear, and then use second gear on the spinner on the right. Reverse and head left to be able to drill the spinner on the left again. On the right is the third gear, after all the work we did. Since you can still drill the purple blocks (I told you to buy the bit, after all), drill into the purple block, and use the spinner here. Walk to the wall and dash onto the red blocks. Quickly head up and grab the red box for a big chip. Head back and use the spinner all the way on the right to get up to the jelly block. Head to the right. Get rid of the enemies and use the spinner to get up to the time blocks. Drill to the other side, into the spinner and get on the platform by drilling into the time block. Wait until it's back, and then use it to proceed. Now comes a fun part. You need to break the time block, then drill into the other time blocks when that one is back to reach the jelly block. By using the jelly block, you'll land on top of the time blocks, allowing you to continue. Once you reached another time block, use it to get on the platform, acting like it's a jelly block. Go right after that. Find the jelly block, and time it to head on the platform. Don't go right just yet, you probably want a treasure, right? Jump back on the purple blocks, and then jump on the jelly block. Drill into it from the left side, and you can reach the platform on the left. Now keep going to the left until you found the treasure - "Square Stone". Now head back to the previous area and continue from there. Note the new enemy, which you want to take out as soon as possible to avoid getting hurt. Instead of playing around with dashing, just drill away the purple blocks to skip it. Obviously you care for the chips, so head left and drill away the purple blocks. Time your walk to find a red box with chips. Return to the right and use the spinner to head up and land on the screw. Move it down and head to the left. Go down and drill away the purple blocks for some nice chips. Continue going down. Drill away the yellow block, so you can dash to the left. This allows you to remove the barrels. Dash to the left side once you got back to the right side. You'll reach a jelly block, some spikes and two time blocks. Drill into the jelly block and reverse. Drill into the light time block, and reverse to land on top of the jelly block. Drill into the dark block, and jump to make it appear again. From there, drill into the other dark block and continue. When you found a spinner, make sure to only stay in first gear. You'll avoid the spikes, don't worry. Continue to go down. You can go left and right. Head left to heal, head right to fight. Drill into the two yellow blocks so you can attack the shielded police from above. Now comes a part that was pretty hard to figure out. Weaken the time block, so you can break it with one more drill, and then dash to the thing you can unscrew. Unscrew it, dash back, break the time block and hope you can get on the other side on time. Continue, until you come to a pit of spikes. Unscrew the part, and reverse when it's almost out to reach the platform. Break the blocks to get some chips and heal yourself and head to the right. How fun, this is the part where you saw the conversation. Read the paper that says - "Attention, fans: Bombs, fireworks, and other explosives are strictly prohibited in the stadium.". It says nothing about drills though. Enter the stadium, and... the red diamond! It'll disappear though. Professor: "Mmm hee hee... Blinded by the diamond! Talk about easy prey! What was that?! Oh, you want me to give it back to you? That's an interesting idea. But... you know something? It wouldn't do you any good because you're going to be arrest right NOW! Unleash the new and improved Policebot!" So, time for another right it seems. Avoid the first bomb that Carrie shoots. Gearmo: "You've got to catch those spinning blue bombs by pressing R! Once you've caught one, send it coming back by releasing the button. Keep spinning your drill for three seconds and it'll automatically fly back!" Keep throwing the bomb back, and watch the timer on the background (this is clearly stolen from the last battle in Zelda: Ocarina of Time that you have with Ganondorf). Throw it back so it'll explode when Carrie has it. After this, she'll use one you need to throw back with L (they are red). The third time she'll mix things up. When the lower part is gone, Carrie can still use the upper part, and this time she'll hold the bombs with her before shooting them. She'll also avoid the bomb when you would have won and try to get you from above. Just drill up to take care of that. She'll also switch sides, which means that the colors are mixed too (R became L, L became R). Professor: "Mm hee hee... I should have known that I couldn't count on the police to nab you. Well, I hate to be rude, but I'm going to have to take the diamond and run. Mm he he! You'll have to grow wings if you want to chase me!" *The drill-mobile will pick you up* Grutch: "Curse you, Skullker idiots! Those cowards! They've got the police on their side!" Gearmo: "You know... Detective Carrie doesn't look like such an evil person. I bet that geeky guy was the professor. He just took off into the sky! The only thing we can do now is find an air propeller for the Drill Dozer... and chase after him!" ============================================================================== Area 4-2 - Metal City Skyline [DD.03.A8] ============================================================================== Walk to the right and... no call! Hooray. Use the time block technique to go up, and watch the devices that shoot bullets at you. After a while you'll get ambushed. Survive and you'll find the second gear. Leave this area. Lots of enemies here, and a red box to heal you. Enter the door for a boss. ??? 2: The diamond... Where IS it? It has such power..." ???: Yes, yes! The diamond will make us young again... And then, we will conquer the world! Mewehehehehe..." This is an easy fight again. Avoid the bombs and drill into the magnet. This'll cause them to bump around the room. Avoid this, and drill into them when they are on the ground. The room will shrink, and you can repeat until they give up. You'll get the air propeller. Gearmo: "Way to go! You just got yourself an air prop!" Grutch: "Press and hold R to spin your prop and zoom through the sky! While you're pressing R, try pressing L at same time to hover!" This is just plain annoying, but whatever. Head to the upper left corner of the screen while collecting the red boxes to enter the next area. Here you'll find the third gear, so you can fly for as long as you want. Head up, up, up and be sure to open the red boxes for free chips. Grutch: "Um... er... do you copy me, Boss? You've climbed up really high!" Gearmo: "The construction of the aerial city hasn't made much headway in that area. You'll probably be surrounded by steel scaffolding. It'll take some tricky hovering to get through a place like that." Well it is tricky, but linear, so just follow the path up until you find a targeting robot. Make it crash into anything to get rid of it and continue. Head to the upper left corner and drill away the purple block. Go straight ahead to find another one and go up until you reached the top. Grutch: "Metal City is a gigantic high-tech city! The city even has this thing that can control the weather! And guess what... you're looking at it! They call it the Drizzler." *The professor comes into the screen.* Professor: "Mm hee hee... You skulked by me before I realized what was going on! You're a nimble one, aren't you, girl? Well, this contraption may look like your everyday weather machine! But it becomes a powerful weapon when it harnesses the power of the diamond! All I have to do is to press a few buttons and pull a few levers like this... And then it's time for you to observe the true power of my genius!" *The Drizzler becomes evil and make an annoying path.* Gearmo: "That crazy professor made that machine create some crazy obstacle course! Listen up! You can't be flying into those spiky walls. You're going to have to use your Drill Dozer's hovering ability here! When you get to the Drizzler, aim for the center and start drilling!" Well, this is quite annoying. The goal is to get up and drill the Drizzler. Part 1 - Some annoying things will make clouds, making it hard for you to see where you are heading. Part 2 - Some annoying things will blow you away or suck you up, making it hard to fly. Part 3 - Some annoying things will shoot electricity to each other. The key here is to get into part 3 and use hovering. Then it's easy. Just as you are about to grab the red diamond, the machine comes back. Grutch: "W-W-W-What?! What's going on!? I thought you freed the Drizzler from the Red Diamond's powers! It should have gone back to its peaceful ways..." Gearmo: "It's no good! The Drizzler is getting too much power from the diamond. It can't stop! You're gonna have to take it down!" This is a hard part. Avoid/destroy the rocks and keep on the ground. It'll shoot a thick beam towards you, which you'll have to avoid one way or another. When it's done shooting, hit it in the glowing part. The last few times he'll shoot multiple times. After the fight, the diamond is yours. ???: "BOSS! You finally got your Red Diamond back! We're coming to pick you up with the trailer right now! Just sit tight and stay where you are." *The Drill-mob... O NO IT'S SOMETHING ELSE!* Gearmo: "Hey! Some weird-looking trailer shower up and grabbed the boss!" Grutch: "That is NOT good! She much have jumped into the trailer not knowing that it was a fake! Sure, we got the diamond back. But what's the point if the boss is kidnapped? How are we going to explain this to Doug? Not good at all..." Gearmo: "Who knows where she took off to!" ============================================================================== Area 5-1 - Clink Prison [DD.03.A9] ============================================================================== Commissioner: Let's see here... Here's the rap sheet of that Red Dozer brat, Jill... Breaking into the Skullker's HQ and destroying private property... Plundering gold bars from the Art Museum vault... Vandalizing the priceless Kuru Ruins... And rampant public endangerment and resisting arrest! What else? Oh, and 17 counts of skipping out on restaurant bills!" Carrie: "Wait just a minute! Don't you think that's a bit of a stretch? Don't you realise it was all because of the Skullkers!? And you can't just throw her in jail without a trial!" Commissioner: "You keep your mouth shut, Detective. We searched her for the Red Diamond, but she didn't have it. She must have hidden it somewhere! But where?!" Carrie: "I have no idea..." *Jill walks around in her cell, looking quite sad* The Drill Dozer is under your control now. Gearmo: "Check it out, Grutch! The Drill Dozer has gone all haywire! It's moving on its town!" Grutch: "What kind of nonsense... WHAAAAZIT?! The Drill Dozer's startup lamp IS on!" Gearmo: "The Drill Dozer is capable of acting on its own... But without a pilot, it'll be limited to half of its usual performance capability." Grutch: "You see, the Drill Dozer is designed to bring out the best of a pilot's skills." Gearmo: "Why don't we just wait and see what the Drill Dozer will do without a pilot!" That didn't make any sense, but whatever. Drill away the junk and enter the door on the right. Head down, since you can't really jump. You'll get ambushed by several enemies. A fun little fact - you can hide in the shadows and you won't get hit. Enter the next area, and you'll find lasers. This is where the shadow-thing comes into play. Hide from the lasers and follow the path. If you get caught by the laser, you'll have to fight a bit. Find a path down into the next room. This is just some more laser-avoiding and entering the next door. You'll find Jill, who's above you. Just keep going and follow the path (ignore the enemy with the big fist, and open the red boxes along your way) until you find Jill. The Drill Dozer will show the red diamond, and the mother of Jill appears for a few seconds. Grutch: "So what's what happened... The Boss hid the Red Diamond inside the Drill Dozer! Her mother left her that diamond. She passed away when the Boss was just a baby... Her love must have been powering the diamond when it saved the boss. Awww... I think I'm getting a little misty!" Gearmo: "Now that she's back on her Drill Dozer, we've got no time to waste! Move out!" Grutch: "You said it! Break outta the slammer!" Now you can move out again, yay! In the room next to you is the second gear. Destroy the door and go that way. In the next room, notice that the wall on the left has a crack and holds some chips. Pull the lever to disable the lasers, and head up (or back to where the robot walked to find some cracks with chips). In this room, head up again to enter a new area. Make sure you don't get shot, or you won't be able to drill. Use the right jelly block to find a red box and a wall with some chips. Head the other way once you collected the goods. Use the left jelly block (second gear) and hope you didn't get shot. If you did, avoid the enemy, otherwise head to the left. Find the lever to activate the lift. Then head up and enter the door. You'll be outside again, so at least you left the prison. Active the lift with the lever and head right for a red box. After that, go left. Before you can attack this enemy, unscrew the screw (with R). After that it's a matter of drilling into it. You'll find a note after a few of these - "Attention, duct cleaner: These screw ducts have been equipped with cannon clamps. If you match the gear level of your Drill Dozer to the cannon clamp number, you'll be propelled through the duct at breakneck speed! However, you cannot pass a cannon clamp if you are not in the correct gear." First head up to find the third gear (watch out for those fist-guys!) and then enter the duct (and open the crack to get healed for a bit). The next room has a treasure. Head into the tube with third gear, and start charging straight away, so you won't get kicked back. Then use the jelly block in third gear and reverse, and you'll get the treasure "Magic Spice!". Dash towards the lift and mount it (watch out for the electricity). After that, head left. ???: "Hey, you! You're trying to escape, aren't you? You can't fool me! Well, I bet you haven't seen anything like my poisonous pallets! One hit, and it's game over for you, kid!" Get yourself into third gear and keep watching the guard. Then walk backwards. Walk onto the lift, and be sure you jump down when it's safe. Then quickly enter the door. Grab the red boxes here, but watch out, since enemies will fall down too. Head left. ???: Yeah, I know you're scared my bullets of doom! And you should, because there's no way I'm gonna let you get away!" Yea mister, I'm "scared my bullets of doom"... really... Repeat what you did before, but this time jump/dash when he doesn't shoot. Enter the door (and if you're hardcore, open the crack). This is just a part of pure skills. Mount the lifts, but don't hit the blocks. When you're all the way up, you'll get ambushed. Destroy the cannons first, so they won't bother you. Continue and go up. Get some red boxes, and enter a room with a letter ("There's a letter here on the desk: Make up some lies about the Red Dozers and give them a bad rap. While the police are hunting down the Red Dozers and ignoring us... We'll have free reign of the city! When all this pays off, you will be rewarded handsomely, Commissioner. With great evilness, Croog"). Drill open the door and get the treasure "Samurai Helmet". Head back and enter the door at the lowers level. Destroy the enemy, and dash underneath the electricity. Enter the door you encounter for fun encounter. Commissioner: "Guhawhawhaw! So you're trying to break out, eh? You've done well to make it this far... But NOBODY makes it out of the room you're in! Guhwwhawhawhaw! You better remove the fuse screws from the bombs in a hurry... Or it's KABOOM for you!" Well, just defuse the bombs then. Blue is L, red is R. After it's done, continue going to the right. Outside, you need to avoid being targeted by the robots. You can avoid being seen by the first two, for the last one you just need to right. Open the red box and continue. Carrie: "So you think you're going to just walk on our of here? Not so fast!" *Carrie walks in* Carrie: "I'm the cop and you're the thief. But the police have been acting very suspiciously lately. I'm not going to condone what you've been doing, but let me show you this..." Open the door, and head over there. Commissioner: "Humph! The Red Diamond? That's just a shiny piece of junk! I've got my own precious little gem. Behold the power of the mighty Green Diamond!" *The green diamond appears and so does a big robot* First the robot will shoot three lasers. Avoid these by using the small blocks. After that, he'll start to shoot rockets. Stand still and walk away when they get close. Then start to drill up, and the arm of the robot will come off. Gearmo: "Way to go! You found an entrance into that giant robot! I'd bet there are three engines powerering that robot. You're going to have to go in there and destroy them before time runs out!" Head into first gear and then swift to second. Drill through the cables. Gearmo: "That cable you just cut feeds energy to the robot's defense system. Cutting these cables will buy you more time!" Right above those cables is a screen - "Attention, janitor: The signs inside the screw ducts indicate the proper use of cannon clamps ahead. The up arrow is a cue to shift up. The down arrow is a cue to shift down! OK means you're in the correct gear and you can pass the cannon clamp." Well that's nice to know. Enter the duct above you. Go up a little bit more, and drill to the left, with gear 1. Check the tube ahead to see what gear you should use. After a while you'll reach the other end of the duct, where you need to drill the other way. You'll end up at an engine. Drill into it to destroy it. This time, the lasers are harder to avoid. Try to jump at the very last moment. The robot won't shoot rockets, so just drill the hand off again and enter it. This time take the tube on the right. This is just a matter of drilling at the right speed again. The arrows indicate the speed, so it's rather easy. Destroy the engine. z No lasers anymore. However, the first time he won't really hit, but make another manoeuvre. The second time you can drill into its hand. All that's left is the duct at the bottom. This is the hardest part, because you need to mix the direction of your drill. Destroy the engine, and you're done. Grutch: "The commissioner is acting really strangely. I bet that diamond had something to do with it!" Gearmo: "So now we've got four diamond: red, yellow, blue, and green... That reminds me... I thought you clobbered the Skullker boss... But he looked like he was doing fine! Who knows where he has run off to." Carrie: "Hey! I saw Croog with the commissioner not that long ago... And he had a diamond! I can't remember what color it was, though..." Grutch: "Then we definitely need to find out!" Carrie: "I'll head back to the police station. Just drop me off here." ============================================================================== Area 6-1 - Drill Missile [DD.03.AB] ============================================================================== (Before you start the level) Croog: "HAH! I bet you think you got away! But not so fast! It's time you meet my Drill Missile! It's just a little toy I've been working on. Mwa ha ha... You pathetic Red Dozers have no idea what you're up against. I'm going to make sure you never have a home to go back to! Mwahahaha hah hah..." *The missile destroys the HQ, and the view switches to the trailer.* Grutch: "AGGHH! That drill missile landed over our HQ!" *You see the map of the HQ* Gearmo: "And it's drilling straight through our base! It's gotta be headed for our secret command center! And you know who's there..." Grutch: "Jill's dad, Big Boss Doug! We have to do something to stop that thing before it gets there!" *The trailer arrives at the missile* Gearmo: "Listen up! It looks like the missile's exhaust vent is still open! Head through that vent to sneak inside the missile! You're the only one who can stop that thing! We're counting on you!" Time to get serious, then. Gearmo: "The best way to stop that drill from spinning is to demolish the engine room! The good news is it's right below you!" Head down, and you'll get another call. Gearmo: "Uhhhh... this isn't good. It looks like the missile is designed to explode if you destroy the engine. Yeah. Not good. You're gonna have to go down deeper into the missile. You'll need to destroy the shaft that's spinning the drill bit. It's out last hope!" Continue to go down the missile. You'll find the second gear, and that allows you to drill open the door ahead. Keep going. After a while you'll fall down for quite a bit. The lifts set them self on electricity, to watch out. You'll find the third gear here. Keep going up until you find a door (I can't really guide you here, it's just skills). Drill your way to the bottom, and enter the door there. Grutch: "B-B-B-Boss! The missile has already dripped 150 feet down! Hurry up and get to the tip of the missile and destroy that shaft!" A time will start, so you'll have to hurry. The blocks may contain a bomb. If that's the case, stand back and watch it explode. Once you reached the part with steel blocks, dig the lowest block to expose a bomb that'll destroy the steel too. The second part has the bomb in the middle block, at the last part drill the upper block. Head down. Dash, destroy the block and dash back. At the second block do the same, and get down. Here, destroy the block, walk back just a bit, but dash past the two bombs. Then destroy the normal block, and keep drilling in the strong block to avoid getting hurt. Jump down and destroy the remaining blocks. At the end, when you are surrounded by strong blocks, dig the one to the right, open the red box and then head straight down to find the shaft. I hope you gave plenty of health, or this may get nasty. Use L to drill into the shaft, while trying to avoid the... thingies. Grutch: "Phew... For a second there, I wasn't sure she was gonna make it!" Gearmo: "All you have to do now is spin the shaft backward... That should back the missile up out of the hole!" Drill the missile just a bit further. Grutch: "You did it, Boss! The drill missile is backing up to the surface!" Gearmo: "Darn it! Reversing the engines has set off the missile's self-destruction sequence!" Grutch: "You gotta get outta there, Boss!" Gearmo: "... ... ... Wait... I have an idea! Don't panic yet! You need to go back to the engine room, the one you used the enter the missile. There should be a switch there. Flip it! That should get the engine to run in reverse. Jill... no, wait. Boss, I know you can do it! Now hurry!" Enter the door ahead and this is where you need to keep ahead of some fire. Drill and wait until you get pushed forwards. Immediately drill into the next duct. Keep going and leave the room. Gearmo: "The switch in that room controls the missile's engines! Flip the lever and you should be home free!" Walk to the left and pull the lever. Grutch: "Way to go, Boss! It's too dangerous to hand around here too long! You better get out of there quick!" *The engines shut down again* Gearmo: "I've got some bad news! That explosion caused the engine to overload! You're as good as burnt toast unless you act fast! There should be a coolant tower to your left and to your right. Keep going to have to keep the coolant levels in perfect balance! The coolant level on the left tower is dropping! Move the control chip in the tower on the right to the one on the left!" Do so and keep watching the line in the middle. Move the chip round and about, and things should be fine. Gearmo: "Phew! Good job! I knew we could count on you! Well, the Skullkers sure have kept us busy. Let's give them a little fireworks just to give them our thanks!" *The missile flies into the air, back to the Skullkers. Then a big vehicle comes up.* Croog: "I had this secret weapon custom built for my evil purposes... All for the day when I would conquer the world! Who would have thought I'd end up using it so soon? What a pleasant surprise!" *The view goes to the trailer.* Grutch: "I didn't think even Croog would do something this evil! We can't just let him get away with it!" ============================================================================== Area 6-2 - Croog's Doom Dozer [DD.03.AC] ============================================================================== "It's the final countdown!" - Europe - The Final Countdown Gearmo: "I'm gonna drive right up to it so the Boss can hop over to the monstrosity!" Croog: "Monstrosity?! How dare you say that about my beautiful implement of doom?! It has a name, you know! I call it the... Doom Dozer!" Grutch: "Huh? Where did that weird voice come from?" Gearmo: "Maybe the radio signals got crossed? Oh, well... we've got to stop that thing! Is everybody ready?" Grutch: "The Boss is gonna right that thing by herself!? Hooo, boy..." *Carrie drives next to the Doom Dozer* Carrie: "That thing is... HUGE! There's no way we can fight that thing!" *The trailer drives closer and launch Jill to the Doom Dozer. The view switches back to Carrie.* Carrie: "Huh?! *In slow-motion you see Jill enter the Doom Dozer, and the view switches back to the trailer. Gearmo: "Watch out! We're gonna craaaaaaaash!" Grutch: "It's all up to you now, Boss!" *Crash... back to Carrie* Carrie: "Fools! How could they be so reckless?! OK, I'm heading in!" Guard: "Detective Carrie! The Red Dozer trailer was totally obliterated! Don't go anywhere near that thing!" Carrie: "Get ahold of yourself! We're the police! We don't run away as soon as things get a little dangerous!" *Jill is on top of the Doom Dozer* ???: "... ... ... ... ... ..." Let's get started then! Head to the right into the next screen. Here, watch out for the missiles and head down a bit. Keep going on the right while destroying and/or avoiding the enemies. After entering a small hole in the wall, you'll find the second gear. Keep going sir. You'll get ambushed by enemies, while missiles fall down. Survive it and enter the pit on the right. Before using the jelly block, head left straight through the wall to find the third gear. Now you can keep going. You can take the upper part or the lower part. Pick the one you want, I found the lowest one the easy one. Head to the next area. Just keep heading right as soon as you can. Fighting the enemies will most likely only get you hurt. You'll have to battle a tank too, isn't that fun? In the next area you'll encounter a blue statue. You need to drill into the eyes to make it stop, nothing hard really. Keep going and take the lower part. Beware of the missiles, and destroy the statues. Then take the upper path and enter the Doom Dozer. Don't worry about your health. Drill your way to the other end of the room and check the result. Croog: "HEY! What is the meaning of this?! Why is everything shaking?! What have you done to my Doom Dozer?" *The Doom Dozer falls over, causing Jill to fall out of her Drill Dozer. She quickly jumps in again. However, the gears are drill all come off...* Croog: "I think that heap of robotic junk you ride around on is finally busted!" *Croog shows up* Croog: "Mwa ha ha ha ha! I can keep coming back to life as long as I have the Black Diamond! You are totally alone now!" Grutch: "You're the one who's all alone, Croog!" Gearmo: "Yeah, we've got your Boss's back! But... uh... the bad news is it looks like the Drill Dozer is falling apart!" Grutch: "We chased Croog all this way and NOW the Drill Dozer falls apart?! What a cryin' shame!" Carrie: "There's no sense in cryin' over a busted Drill Dozer! Can you hear me, Boss? Your drill may be broken, but you've still got your fists, right? Pound him!" *Jill hits the air* Croog: "HAH! You're kidding, right? Oooh, I'm really scared of those adorable little fists! Why don't you go and play with your doll, little girl!" This can be fun. First, Croog will shoot a few fireballs your way. Stand a bit to the right, and when something blinks, walk left. Then charge your fists, and once he swoops down, hit him. He'll fall of his chair in slow-motion. The black diamond then breaks and... so does Croog! Then Gearmo and Grutch show up, while Croog runs for it. Grutch: "The Black Diamond must have amplified Croog's brattiness! It also seems to have bonded with the other diamonds..." Gearmo: "But it exhausted all of its power in the process! It shattered into a million pieces!" *Carrie shows up* Carrie: "But just look at what's left behind: four beautiful diamonds." Grutch: "Hey! That Red Diamond was ours to begin with!" *The red diamond floats up* Carrie: "The Yellow Diamond was stolen from the Art Museum vault." *The yellow diamond floats up* Gearmo: "And we found the Blue Diamond deep in the Kuru Ruins..." *The blue diamond floats up* Grutch: "The Green Diamond came from the Clink Prison warden, but he was a a jerk!" *The green diamond floats up* Carrie: "Well, the Black Diamond may be gone... But something terrible is bound to happen if we keep all of them together. I think the Yellow Diamond would be best used helping the police fight crime. Any objections?" *Carrie takes the yellow diamond* Grutch: "Hey, we don't have any beef with you as long as you give us our Red Diamond!" *Jill takes the red diamond* Grutch: "So that's it, eh? Everything all tied up nice and tidy? Talk about a happy ending!" Gearmo: "But what are we supposed to do with these blue and green diamonds?" Grutch: "Well, we can't just take them back to the ruins..." *The two old ladies take the remaining diamonds* Carrie: "SOMEBODY STOP THEM!" *Carrie runs off* "A few days later..." Grutch: "The Drill Dozer is all fixed up, and Big Boss Doug is all healed up. I think it's time to celebrate! Too bad Croog turned our HQ into a pile of rubble... Oh, wait! We have the Red Diamond! Maybe we can use its power to fix our base!" *The red diamond floats up and disappears* Doug: "We can't rely on the Red Diamond to do our dirty work, Grutch! So what if the base was totaled?! We can always build a new one! Besides, rebuilding the base with our own hands is half the fun! Croog never understood that, and look where that got him!" Grutch: "Oh, I guess you're right! That's Doug, always living up to his title as the Red Dozer Big Boss! But... We're gonna need lots of loot to pay for rebuilding our base. And our trailer got completely demolished in that battle against Croog! " Doug: "Bahahaha! Don't you worry, Grutch!" *The Drill-mobile shows up* Gearmo: "Brand spankin' new, just like you ordered, Big Boss!" Doug: "All right, people! Let's head out and find some treasure! I'm counting on you, Jill. From now on, you're the Big Boss of the Red Dozers!" *Jill's mom shows up and waves at you* The credits will roll, and depending on how many treasures you got, you'll get a ranking. You can improve it by getting more treasures. Does this mean the game ended? Not at all. You still have to find the remaining treasures, and you can buy items in the shop to open special levels. You can also see how many treasures are still in the level. Make sure you get the new bit, so you can finally drill through those steel blocks. Have fun! ============================================================================== Special Levels [DD.03.BB] ============================================================================== ============================================================================== Red Dozers' Training Course [DD.03.B1] ============================================================================== Walk a bit to the right and you'll get called. Grutch: "This place feels familiar, doesn't it? You played here back when you were just a baby. This place is packed with strange gadgets, so it's a great place to practice. Come back here anytime you want to brush up on your skills!" You'll find the second gear right away. Drill away the time blocks and be sure to read the board - "Doug left a note here: Even if you break time blocks, they'll come back after a while. Try drilling through several blocks at a time." Grab the third gear and move on. Drill through the blocks and head into the next room. Head to the tubes and read the note of Doug - "Doug left a note here: Try keeping your drill in third gear and run along these drill ducts. You can even hop across gaps in the drill ducts." Listen to this to reach the next room. Drill away the screw ahead, and wait till it lowers. You can then head up to read the note - "Doug left a note here: Spin your drill into screw gates to raise them! If your drill won't spin, try spinning it the other way! Go through the gate quickly before it falls back down!" Continue until you can't continue doing this. The trick is too lower the screw, and then stand on it. You'll go up too and you can enter the next room. Finish the puzzle here (put the piece on the wall) and enter the next room once again. Get up the platform using the jelly block (drill into it with third gear, then press the other drill direction button) and you'll find a board after another jelly block - "Doug left a note here: You can't break Rubber Blocks! Try drilling and switching directions. The higher the gear you're in, the farther you can jump." Leave the room using this knowledge. Mount the lift here and read the board - "Doug left a note here: Socket Lifts will carry you only as long as your drill is spinning! It'll turn around if you bump into something like a wall!". Remember you can also turn around by pressing left or right. Your reward is a treasure (150 chips). Grutch: "Way to go, Boss! Take this as a prize!" Gearmo: "Come here anytime you want to work on your skills!" ============================================================================== Area 1 - Restricted Area [DD.03.B2] ============================================================================== This is incredibly hard, so watch it. You need to use your drill to mount the lifts, then turn around and reverse. Keep going this way... Told you, pretty hard. You can take a break on the jelly block if you feel like that ;p You'll find more jelly blocks along the way, and a small yellow block. If you want some chips, get up the jelly block and jump on the small yellow block ( and keep going). However, if you also want the second red box, you'll need to start this all over. Anyway, head left and down, entering the next area. Head left in the room, and survive the ambush to get the treasure "Flavor Burst". Leave this area - pretty small, eh? ============================================================================== Area 2 - Employee Area [DD.03.B3] ============================================================================== Well, let's enter the building to begin this. Yes - this is quite a funny little beginning. The foreground may suddenly blend with the background and this makes it a bit hard to see where you're going. Keep heading right. Ignore the jelly block and head down the duct. Follow the way until you find the second gear. Enter the next area and keep going until you find the third gear. With that gear, you can continue again. There are four ducts on the wall to the right. You need to take the lowest (blue) one. After that it's all pretty linear again. You'll have to fight one of those crabs, before you can continue again. After that... another one, but just watch the fact that you need to drill the other way, since it's a blue duct. Continue and you'll end up finding the treasure "Pyramid Stone" and go further to finish this stage. However, we left another treasure here. Head back and keep on walking to the right. When you find a jelly block, drill into it and reverse, then dash and enter the door. Take the lifts up, and avoid the lasers. Once you reached a bunch of jelly blocks, destroy the statues and stand on the two jelly blocks. Time your move and fall next to the upper block, drill and reverse. Go up this way and mount the lift. Reverse so you can enter the door. You may think this is easy - just stand under the lift and you won't get hurt. However, when you are underneath it, you'll get ambushed. Get rid of them and enter the next door to get back to the previous room. Dash when the laser is gone, and mount the lift to get the second gear. Mount the lift again and get higher using the second gear and reversing. Now you need to head down again. Use the lowest jelly block into second gear to get there. Drill away the self-repairing door and enter the door. Drill into the jelly block from the right side and get on the lift. Then drill into the jelly block above you to land on the other jelly block, so you can drill into the duct and go up. There are two ways up, leading each to a different door. We need to head right though. They key is to drill into the jelly block at second gear, get into the lift, get to second gear, reverse etc. until you are able to reach the door. Inside destroy the two shielded police units and solve the painting puzzle to reveal a red tube in the other room. Head back and take the other path (drill into the jelly block with second gear, get into the tube, destroy the statues while avoiding the laser) and enter the room. Take the tube down and enter that door again. Weeee! Third gear! Head back down through the tube, and you'll land on a jelly block. Use it to reach the tube on the left and go through it. Mount the lift on the left, and use it to reach the other one. Get up and destroy the statues. Then head back to the other lift and take the other path. From here on it's pretty linear. Outside you'll find the treasure "Samurai Sword!". ============================================================================== Area 3 - Forgotten Ruins [DD.03.B4] ============================================================================== Walk inside, and you'll find the second and third gear right away. Follow the path until you find some jelly blocks. There are several doors, here, and we'll start with the one in the upper left corner. Drill away the steel block, and drill into the jelly on the left, head to the right and use that to get on the left block. From there, find the door. It's just a matter of going up, and there's nothing here that should allow you to get stuck. On top is a door you can enter, where you'll find the treasure "Ancient Tablet". Leave the area, and head back into the area with the jelly blocks. This time, take the door in the upper right corner. Dash to the right and drill away the block. Hide until the rock passed by, and use the jelly in second gear to reach the next part. Keep going until you are on top. The easiest way to reach the jelly on the left is to stay there and get hit by a rock :p You'll fly on the block ;p Keep going until you have to go down a series of small blocks. You'll find a jelly block. Look down to find the starting block, and go up from there. Enter the door to find the treasure "Cowdust". Head back and enter the door you didn't take yet - in the middle of the room. Now this is just hard. Walk right and drill into the blocks, so you reach the left side. Immediately jump up, and drill into the normal block. Dash to the right side, and jump. Drill into the block, and drill into the middle block too. Stand on the strong block and jump/drill into the long row of blocks above you. Jump up and drill into the bottom strong block. Dash to the left and drill away the blocks above you. Dash back to the right, drill into the upper strong block and dash to reach the door (hope that was clear). Inside is the treasure "Barnacle Coin". Leave the stage and good job on getting three more treasures. ============================================================================== Area 4 - Metal City Highrise [DD.03.B5] ============================================================================== Walk ahead and jump up the platforms. Head all the way up to find the second gear. Walk a bit back and get on the spinner that is next to a small gap. Get on top of it and dash to the spinner on the right side. Use it to get up. In the next room, use the spinner on the right to get on the lift. Then time your jump and use the left spinner in second gear to get higher. Don't dash to the right yet, but first get the third gear by using the spinner that's above some spikes to get to the third gear. After that dash where I told you not to (confused yet? ;p) and head up, into the next room. Nothing hard here, just keep going up, watching the spikes. Don't be afraid to destroy the blocks, they are of no use here. In the next room, first destroy the turret. Free the mines (dash) and go further. Destroy the turret here, but watch out for the mine. After that it's just the same old, but a bit harder perhaps. It's all pretty linear, and you'll find the treasure "Glass Mask". Jump down to finish the stage. Obviously, you need to head back again. This time, take the route right. All very linear stuff. Find the second gear and head right. This may be a small problem. Unscrew the screw, and reverse, so you can mount the lift and continue. Head right to and take the lifts to find the third gear. Jump down underneath the last lift you used to find another lift. Use that one to head to the right. When you find a bunch of jelly blocks, and a thing you can unscrew. Screw the lowest screw all the way in, so it comes out on the left. Then drill into that on third gear and reverse to reach the jelly blocks. You can now enter the next area. Drill into the time blocks to get to the platform on the right. Before the last one appears again, drill to the other side and reverse onto the block that appeared behind you. Continue after this little platform fun. But that's not all. Soon enough you'll find a large gap with a unscrew thing on the right. Unscrew it, use it to reach the other site of it, and unscrew it from that side. Before it's all the way out, reverse to reach the other side. Continue to the right again. Unscrew the thing here, and mount the lift. Reverse into it in second gear, and you'll find the treasure "Eternal Top". I'll list the way to get the remaining treasure when I found it. ============================================================================== Area 5 - Escape Tunnel [DD.03.B6] ============================================================================== Take the lift up, and enter the door on the right. Escape the fist-guy, and lore him to the edge. Let him hit you (hint: by drilling you can't get hurt this way) and let him hit you to the other ledge. The fist-guy here can help you mount a lift on the right (reverse it to get on the ledge). The final fist-guy is also willing to hit you to the right, so you can mount a few more lifts and find the second gear. Take the duct up. Destroy the enemy, and find the crack in the wall to heal yourself. Then mount the lifts and make your way to the left. Enter the duct and get into second gear (one of those annoying number-things again). After that head into first gear to enter the next area. In here, enter the duct and use the correct gear (it's on screen, so no need for me to tell) until you come to an intersection. Take the bottom duct first, since the left one requires the third gear. You'll find the third gear that way and yes... go back and take the left duct. Follow the path until you end up fighting one of those targeting robots. After you defeated it, you'll find the treasure "Chip Fossil". Leave the area and return to it. Take the lift again and this time take the upper door. Avoid the lasers, but survive the ambush. As soon as a laser hits you, you need to retry it. A small note - when you got hit by the guards, the lasers will ignore you as long as you blink. Once you won, get the second gear and enter the duct. Survive the next ambush (getting hit by the green stuff means it'll become quite tricky) and go up. Enter the blue duct to get the third gear. Then return and enter the red duct. This is a hard part again. In the normal game, you had to disarm bombs. This time you need to that with two turrets around that shoot the green stuff that make your drill get stuck. Good luck. Always go for the bomb with the lowest time and/or longest screw out. In the next room, head up first by mounting the lifts, while avoid getting shot. If you makes you feel better, you can take the turrets out. When you got up (crack in the wall on the left side for some chips) mount the lift on the right, avoid the electricity and enter the door. Once again it's time to avoid lasers. Watch the lasers and just keep going to the right. Remember that dashing helps. In the second room with lasers, it's all a different story. Get on the block on the far right without getting seen. Crouch into a small ball, get seen, dash, drill into the second lift, turn around, reverse into second gear, grab the fourth lift, turn around and reverse. You should be just in time and land on some red blocks again. Wait until the laser heads up and get to the right side (hard part, I know). When you reached the last set of lasers, wait for the right moment (when the left laser, that is close to you hits the upper block of the two red blocks, jump into the small area) and get in and out, to find the treasure "Clay Shades". We got all the treasures here, let's get out! ============================================================================== Area 6 - Hidden Compartment [DD.03.B7] ============================================================================== Once you are done falling, enter the door. Get to the right and up, while avoiding the balls. You'll end up finding the second gear by falling down. Head to the left. Use the jelly blocks to get up, but watch out for the balls. You'll end up finding a self-repairing door. Destroy it and continue. You'll find some lifts. Use the jelly block to get on the platform and continue. Open the red box and head down. Time for some jumping and jelly-blocking. You'll find a jelly block with a pink ball around it. You need to drill into that with second gear and reverse to find the treasure "Skull Badge". Enter the door to find the third gear. Jump on the blocks, and drill away the middle block in the right. Step back and when it exploded, stand on the bomb underneath you and dash to the blue platform. Jump on the next blocks, and do the same. At the third part, you need to drill the upper block, and jump over the bomb of the lowest block. At the fourth part, drill into the strong block and keep drilling into the normal blocks. When you get to the other side, jump on the strong block, open the red box and head up. Use the jelly block to get on the other side. Open the red box, and ignore the jelly block. Just drill as high as possible to reveal a bomb. When it's low enough to jump on, do so to reach the platform. Keep going to find the last set of bombs. Drill into the normal block, and let it explode. Then drill into the upper strong block, wait until you can pass and keep going to find the second treasure "Bone Bell". Nice work there! Enter the door and walk next to the hole to leave this area. ============================================================================== Treasures [DD.04.01] ============================================================================== 01. Red Diamond This mysterious red gemstone swirls with power. Finish the game. 02. Round Stone Years of rain and wind have shaped this stone into a perfect sphere. You get this on 1-2. In the room where you learn how to use the jelly blocks, find the second block. Get on the platform above, drop down and drill to the second gear, and reverse, so you end up on the platform with this treasure. 03. Square Stone This stone transformed into a cube after being struck by lightning. You get this on 4-1. Once you found a slope that goes down, with a jelly block and purple vanishing blocks, you are on the right spot. First use the jelly block to get on the platform on the right, then use the purple blocks to jump on the jelly block. Drill into the jelly block from the left to get to the slope. Follow the path to find the treasure. 04. Pyramid Stone This stone is said to have once sat atop the peak of a great pyramid. You get this on 2-3, by playing it the first possible way (from the beginning keep on heading right, ignore the jelly block and take the duct down - from there finish it). 05. Sound Stone This stone picks up and stores sounds wherever it is placed. Found in 1-2 after going through the level, you'll find a platform that has a lift, grab onto that lift and ride up. Once up you'll find a metal block. Break it, and then precede to grabbing your treasure. 06. Smooth Coin The edge of this coin is worn perfectly smooth. Found in stage 1-1. Once you have drilled through the first metal block on the stage, you will go through a series of obstacles. In the area where there is a column of Yellow bricks followed by a lone Red-cornered Yellow brick there will be a piece of wall directly beside it that breaks the usual wall pattern. Use your drill to go through the wall and you will gain access to the treasure box containing the Smooth Coin. 07. Rough Coin The edge of this coin is rough. It's worth more than a smooth one. You find this on 4-1. In the second area from where you begin, shoot yourself up twice using the spinners. Continue right over the steel blocks. Shoot up again and cross the timer blocks to the purple blocks. Drill through them and continue shooting up. Drill out the steel block here. Shoot yourself straight up, drill in the timer block from its right side then quickly reverse your drill to shoot yourself right into another spinner. Grab on and shoot yourself up and to the left where you'll drill another timer block, reverse the drill, and you'll land on the ledge where you'll find this treasure. 08. Barnacle Coin This old silver coin was dredges up from the depths of the ocean. You find this on 3-3. In the main room, take the door in the middle to find this treasure. 09. Frigid Claw The claw of a cold beast living in Antarctica. You find this on 5-1. Drill to the steel blocks on the left. Keep jumping up and you will get this treasure. 10. Stinky 'Shroom This 'shroom stinks so bad that nobody dares to go near where it grows. You can find this on 4-3. Following the route to the right, this treasure is a little bit left of the third gear 11. Gear Fossil This fossil proves that Drill Dozers existed in ancient times. You find this on 2-1. The treasure is in the area where you start, Roof, but you have to work your way through the rooms until you get the 3rd gear in the East Tower. Once you do, go through the door at the top of the East Tower to return to the Roof. Jump left and drill your way across the sky to find this treasure. 12. Drill Fossil This fossil proves that thieves also existed in ancient times. You find this on 4-1. It's in the area after the 3rd gear, Building Area 1. After you drill across the first set of timer blocks, just let yourself drop down to find this treasure. 13. Chip Fossil This fossil proves that computers existed in ancient times. You find this on 5-2. Take the lift up and enter the door on your right. Follow the linear way to find this treasure. 14. Jellyfish Bone Jellyfish seem limp in the water, but their bones are super tough! You find this on 3-1. As soon as you see the purple blocks, dig through them and follow the path to find this treasure. 15. Eternal Top Once this top starts spinning, it'll gyrate forever! You can find this on 4-3. From the beginning, keep going to the right until you found it. 16. Samurai Armor This armor was worn by a samurai warrior in ancient Japan. You find this on 2-2. Samurai Helmet This helmet was worn by a samurai warrior in ancient Japan. You find this on 5-1. Before the room where you unscrew the bombs, head all way up and enter the door. It's the office you saw in a cutscene earlier. The treasure is on the right side. 18. Samurai Sword This sword was carried by a samurai warrior in ancient Japan. You find this on 2-3 by just playing the second way (in the beginning use the jelly block to enter the door and finish it that way). 19. Golden Scarab This pin is made of solid gold. It is carved into the shape of a beetle. You find this on 2-2. In the room where you get the 2nd gear, Sewer 1, drill the steel blocks in the bottom right area. Just follow the path down and around to find this treasure. 20. Aqua Crown This beautiful crown is shaped like a bursting droplet of water. You find this on 3-2. Go through the underwater parts until you see a steel block above you. Drill up into the next area, Royal Road. The trick to navigating through this area is to drill a bubble on one side of you, then immediately drill the bubble on the other side of you so you bounce past the first bubble before it reappears. Continue up through this area and into the Royal Room to find this treasure. 21. Glass Mask This mask is made of clear glass. It doesn't conceal the face of the wearer. You find this on 4-3. When you enter, head up the small platform and keep going up until you find this treasure. 22. Clay Shades These ancient sunglasses were worn by ancient ceramic figures. You find this on 5-2. Once you entered a room with bubbles, find a room that can be entered through the upper left corner. This room holds the treasure. 25. Footdust Each grain in this pile is shaped like a chicken foot. You find this on 3-1. Follow the level like you would until you find steel blocks on your left. Dig through them and follow the path to find this treasure. 26. Cowdust Each grain in this pile is shaped like a cow. Moooo! You find this on 3-3. In the main room, take the door in the upper right corner to find this treasure. 27. Ancient Tablet Something is written on this tablet in a cryptic old language. You find this on 3-3. In the main room, take the door in the upper left corner to find this treasure. 28. Old Juice This is a 500-year-old bottle of juice. You can't seem to open it. You find this on 4-2. A couple of areas after you get the 3rd gear, there's a series of vertical steel boxes to the right. Drill into them, then keep moving forward. At the end, drop to the bottom. The treasure is on the left side. 29. Magic Spice Just a sprinkle of this will make even the most rotten food delicious. You find this on 5-1. Once you learned how to use the device in ducts that you need to be at the correct speed for, use it, and you'll end up in the next room. Find another one duct here and follow it until you found this treasure. 30. Flavor Burst - This herb will make any stew delicious! You find this on 1-3. In the first area, head all the way to the left and go down. Enter the room and head to the left and survive the ambush to find this treasure. 31.
